    I wanted to your opinion on something which has really helped me solve the problem of being late on the forehand. On the unit turn the left hand stays on the racquet as you are turning. My issue l believe was that l was letting go of the racquet too quickly with my left hand which stops the coil and was causing me to be late. I saw a really good video which said not only to keep the left hand on longer but allow it to actually help start the forward swing before you release it. I did this and it solved my issue. I am no longer late on the forehand. I believe this something that pros with great forehands do but it happens so fast it's missed. What are your thoughts, this seems to work.

    Hi Ryan, quick question regarding the dominant arm forearm. Prior to serving, during warm-up hitting simple forehands or backhands, I notice a "stretch" in the forearm muscle once I start moving my feet, and then after that stretch I see that my serve changes from the "waiter tray" serve to what I perceive as the correct serve motion, including achieving what I perceive as the correct continental grip. I am curious if you have noticed this "stretch" when you warm-up?

    I will confirm this is amazing topic!!!! Forget thinking about pronation. Just try with all your effort to chop through the ball with your frame “edge”. It won’t happen because you will naturally pronate. If you TRY to pronate, you may pronate too soon. Go to the ball on edge as long as possible without thinking about pronation. Ryan, great video!

  • @KashNoorani
    @KashNoorani День тому

    Coming from table tennis, I found this to be an interesting video as many tactical principles are common to both sports. Since there are many comments about how easy down-the-link shots are, I decided to bring in a perspective from a sport that uses much more spin than is common in tennis. At the higher level, there is so much spin/rotation on every ball that controlling a down-the-line shot, especially when it's hit with power (i.e. speed and spin) from cross-court is quite difficult. Even in singles, the pro players do exactly what this video is advocating. If you are playing at a lower level where the incoming ball isn't powerful, yeah you'll be able to hit down-the-line shots easily and your opponent won't have the footwork to play the next ball to your wide cross-court but when your opponent is hitting with power, you may be able to "guide" the ball down-the-line (and set up his cross-court winner) but it's a much higher-risk (not to mention higher-skill) shot to hit your own down-the-line winner. Therefore, at the higher level, it's better to play cross-court with power i.e. continue the rally and look for another opening rather than immediately try and win the point with a riskier shot.
